Amazon is saying so long to the big apple.
The company announcing it will no longer build its expansive corporate campus in New York City after a fierce and unexpected backlash.
Amazon spent a year searching for its next corporate headquarters, dubbed HQ2.
Cities across the country submitted proposals. Ultimately the company chose Virginia and New York and promised to create more than 25 thousand new jobs per location.
The decision is a win for progressives worried the company’s presence would price people out of their homes.
As other cities attempt to gain what New York has lost, top lawmakers say the the backlash is bad for future business.
