A photo from the past could upset Governor Ralph Northam’s future.
Calls for the democratic Governor of Virginia to resign are escalating after a racist picture in a 1984 medical school yearbook surfaced.
It shows a person dressed in blackface and another in the kkk’s signature hood and robes.
Some of those calling for his resignation are coming from high-profile members of his own party.
On Saturday the Democrat from Virginia denied he was either person in that 1984 photo and rejected calls to resign.
But those comments came less than 24-hours after he apologized for being in that photo.
President Trump was quick to respond with a tweet, blasting Northam for back tracking and for his stance on abortion. Northam isn’t getting much support from fellow democrats.
Former Vice President Joe Biden also says Northam needs to step down, tweeting the governor “has lost all moral authority.”
Northam held a meeting about the yearbook photo Sunday night with administration officials, Sunday night, according to two sources.
One source said that no one there told Northam to stay.
