Dozens of fisherman were rescued from an ice float that broke free in Lake Erie Saturday.
At 8:13 AM, the Coast Guard received a notification that there were around 100 people stranded on an ice floe with 30 to 40 more in the water.
Officials launched multiple boats and helicopters to respond to the area off the coast of Catawaba Island, Ohio.
Within an hour, crews arrived and found that those who had been in the water were all back on ice or land.
And around 100 people were able to walk to shore on portions of ice that were still unbroken.
However, as the temperature continued to rise, the ice broke into multiple separate ice floes.
The remaining 46 fishermen were soon rescued by airboat and helicopter crews.
And by 11:15 AM, all who had been stranded on the ice were rescued.
