Facebook has agreed to pay a record $5 billion for a user data breach related to Cambridge Analytica.
The firm was hired by President Trump’s campaign during the 2016 election and the settlement comes following an investigation, which allegedly found Cambridge Analytica obtained user data from a personality quiz app.
The settlement is the largest relating to privacy in the Federal Trade Commission’s history.
It also marks the largest action taken against facebook in its series of privacy scandals.
Meanwhile, other governments across the globe are investigating the social media giant, as well.
