The Department of Justice has arrested a man who they say bought body armor, AR-15 parts, and a 100-round double magazine for the man responsible for murdering nine people in Dayton.
Ethan Kollie, 24, of Kettering, Ohio, a suburb just outside of Dayton, was arrested Friday night in Beavercreek after the FBI says he bought a bulletproof vest, gun parts, and a double drum magazine for Connor Betts, who is responsible for the August 4 mass shooting in Dayton’s popular Oregon District that left nine people dead.
According to the FBI, they interviewed Kollie the day of the shooting and he told agents that about 10 weeks ago, he helped Betts assemble the AR-15 used in the Oregon district shooting. The drum magazine arrived about six to eight weeks ago.
Prosecutors said that the reason Betts asked Kollie to keep the items at Kollie’s house was because Betts wanted to “hide” them from his parents.
Kollie was charged with possession of a firearm by an unlawful user of any controlled substance and making false statements or representations. He faces up to 15 years in prison.
