An incredible story of survival in the wake of tragedy.
After 88 days missing, Jayme Closs was found alive.
The 13-year-old vanished on October 15th after her parents James and Denise were found shot and killed in their home near Barron.
According to Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald, 21-year-old Jake Thomas Patterson had specific intentions to kidnap Jayme.
Authorities spent months searching for her.
Then, on Thursday, Jayme approached a woman walking her dog , 70 miles north of where she was last seen.
They went to a nearby house asking for help and the couple called 911.
Shortly after, police arrested and charged Patterson with 2 counts of first degree murder and one count of kidnapping.
He reportedly held Jayme in a home in a remote area.
It is still unclear whether Patterson has an attorney, or how he intends to plead.
Police also say they now know that Patterson was not at home and that he was out looking for her when law enforcement made contact.
As for Jayme, she’s now safe with family.
