Mass protests were held in the streets of Hong Kong Sunday against a hugely controversial extradition bill.
If passed, the bill would allow Hong Kong to extradite people at China’s request.
Lawmakers who oppose the bill say it is designed to increase beijing’s power to detain dissidents and other critics.
They also say it would undermine hong kong’s semi-autonomous legal system.
And while some protestors concede that their demonstrations will largely have no effect, they say they do it because they aren’t giving up anything and are fighting.
