White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee-Sanders will leave the role at the end of the month.
President Trump made the announcement on Twitter, saying Sanders “is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job.”
Trump also saying that Sanders is heading back to her home state of Arkansas, where he hopes she will run for governor.
The president also thanked Sanders for her “job well done.”
She has been the press secretary for almost two years, taking over from Sean Spicer early in President Trump’s term.
During a White House event, Sanders expressed that her time in the administration meant a lot to her.
So far, President Trump has not named a successor for Sanders.
