Wanda Vázquez is the new governor of Puerto Rico, the island’s third in less than a week.
She was sworn in Wednesday afternoon after the island’s supreme court concluded that the governorship of Pedro Pierluisi was unconstitutional.
As the former secretary of justice, Vázquez was next in line to assume Puerto Rico’s top leadership position.
However, Vázquez had been clear that she was not interested in becoming governor.
Just like Ricardo Rosselló, Vázquez has also been criticized in the protests the island has faced within the past few weeks.
On his end, Pierluisi tweeted a goodbye message and thanked the Puerto Ricans who supported him during his five days as governor.
