3 Rescued From Deserted Island
FLORIDA – –
Three Cuban nationals stranded on the deserted island of Anguilla Cay, Bahamas were rescued by a U.S. Coast helicopter crew this week.
Two men and one woman said they survived on coconuts, conchs, and rats for 33 days before they rescued.
U.S. Coast Guard officials said the trio told them their boat had capsized in rough waters and they were able to swim to the island.
They were spotted during routine coast guard patrol and waved down with a makeshift flag.
All three were taken to lower Keys Medical Center in Florida with no reported injuries.
