4 States Legalize Recreational Pot: A Look at California’s Market
Recreational marijuana was just legalized in four new states: Arizona, New Jersey, Montana, and South Dakota.
“You have cannabis users coming from people wearing a Trump hat to people wearing a Biden hat,” said Pot Shop Owner, Richard Abromeit.
Looking to California, which legalized recreational pot in 2018, we can see a window of what is to come for these new states.
“Everybody’s using it for all kinds of different things,” said Napolean Clayton, a marijuana consumer.
A plethora of pot products rules the California market, including things like cannabis coffee.
“A cup of coffee with a 10-milligram dose of THC is not going to put you at a level of inability to function,” said Kevin Love, a cannabis entrepreneur.
Cannabis lounges are a popular place to partake in California. The idea of a cannabis lounge is to have a restaurant-like setting. They have them in places like the Bay Area, Palm Springs, and West Hollywood. Most close at 10 pm.
“There’s a lot of issues in regards to where people can consume right now,” said Dallin Young of the Association of Cannabis Professionals. “This is ultimately where this industry has come from, the community aspect of coming together and consuming these awesome products.”
