Amazon Buys 11 Jets for Faster Shipping
Retailer Amazon is looking to expand its shipping capabilities by purchasing a fleet of jet airplanes to continue what they call fast and reliable shipping.
On Tuesday January 5th, Amazon announced the purchase of eleven Boeing 767-300 jet aircraft.
The aircraft were purchased from Delta and WestJet and will be joining the Amazon Air fleet network by 2022.
The company says this is the first time they purchase this model aircraft.
According to plane manufacturer Boeing, shipping company Fed-Ex also recently ordered 12– 767 freighter aircraft.
Boeing’s website claims the plane has a take off power so strong that when compared to a car, it would be the equivalent of accelerating from zero to 60 in less than half a second.
