After yesterday’s showdown in the Senate, Attorney General William Barr is a no-show before a House hearing helmed by Democrats.
It’s the latest episode in the high tensions between the Trump Administration and the hill.
The no-show, the day after Barr faced a Senate grilling over his handling of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report.
Further fueled by a letter revealed Tuesday night, in which Mueller stated that Barr’s summary did not fully capture the substance and conclusions of his report.
Democrats say Barr is acting in President Trump’s interests, not the nation’s.
House Republicans blaming Democrats and political theater for Barr’s failure to appear.
The Justice Department also failed to comply with a House Judiciary Committee subpoena for the unredacted report and evidence saying, “this subpoena is not legitimate oversight.”
Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler says they still want that report and could hold Barr, in contempt.
