A black bear whose travels have interested people around the world has been transported to a safe habitat.
Bruno got a large following after trekking through several states.
He’s believed to have started in Wisconsin and then spent much of June traveling through Illinois, eventually swimming across the Mississippi River and arriving into Missouri last week.
The Missouri Department of Conservation had received reports of a bear in the area.
And, on Sunday, Bruno appeared to have trapped himself between several major roadways.
In the interest of his, and the public’s safety, the department decided to immobilize Bruno and move him to a nearby area more suitable for a bear.
Wildlife experts believe Bruno traveled hundreds of miles in search of a mate.
