Bill Peters is no longer, the head coach of the Calgary Flames. Peters resigned after it was revealed that he directed racist slurs at a Nigerian-born player a decade ago. Plus, he kicked and punched players when he was the head coach of the Carolina Hurricanes.
Flames general manager Brad Treliving says he received a resignation letter from Peters on Friday. On Monday, former hockey player Akim Aliu says the head coach dropped the “N” word several times at him during the 2009-10 season, while they were with the Chicago Blackhawks minor-league affiliate in Rockford, Illinois. Reports also came out that Peters was physically abusive in Carolina. Former Canes defenseman Michal Jordan says Peters kicked him and punched another player during a game.
