CBP Seizes $1.6M in Counterfeit AirPods, Electronics

Counterfeiters stopped in Houston, Texas after customs intercepts over million dollars in fake Apple AirPods and other electronics.
Officers working at a seaport noticed a shipment from Taiwan labeled “headset” with the iconic Apple brand. That’s when they discovered 17,599 items including suspicious looking apple AirPods wireless headsets and watches.
Customs and Border Protection says along with low quality material and lack of regulation, counterfeit objects pose a danger to suspected forced labor victims used to create the products. They say that in most cases, counterfeit goods result in lost profit and American jobs.
The importer abandoned the merchandise and now agents they will destroy them.
If sold, the agency the items would retail for $1,647,578.
