Chinese officials are warning that they are “prepared for the worst” in handling the unrest in Hong Kong.
Several dozen members of a Chinese paramilitary unit were seen in Shenzhen on Wednesday.
That’s a city on mainland China’s southern border, just outside of Hong Kong.
And Thursday, the warnings continued from China’s ambassador to the U.K.
He said China will not sit on its hands.
The U.S. State Department says it’s deeply concerned by the reports.
President Trump has also weighed in on the situation, tweeting that he has “zero doubt that if President Xi wants to quickly and humanely solve the Hong Kong problem he can do it.”
He also appeared to offer to meet with Xi personally.
