Customs Seizes $11.5 Million in Meth at Legal Port of Entry hidden in Produce Shipment
PHARR, TEXAS – –
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seize over 11 million dollars worth of meth hidden inside a tractor trailer at a legal port of entry.
The agency says the drugs were found Sunday February 21, 2021 at the Pharr International Bridge in Texas hidden inside a produce shipment.
305 packages of methamphetamine were found concealed within a tractor trailer hauling fresh mixed produce from Mexico.
The shipment was discovered using Non-Intrusive Imaging (NII) technology where they found the 575 pounds of drugs stashed within the trailers floor.
Port director Carlos Rodriguez said the seizure was significant from keeping the drugs from reaching our communities.
