The man who was the mastermind of one of the greatest offensive lines in history has passed away.
The Washington Redskins say former offensive coach Joe Bugel has died. He’s the man who constructed the hogs of the 1980’s. Bugel, who worked more than 3 decades in the NFL, coached the redskins’ offensive line from 1981 to 1989. In 1983, he also took on offensive coordinator and assistant head coach duties. After that, Bugel was the head coach of the Phoenix Cardinals from 1990 to 1993. In 2004, he returned to Washington as the offensive line coach and stayed there until his retirement after the 2009 season. Bugel died at the age of 80.
