President Trump signed a bill funding the government and also declared a national emergency to get the money needed to build a wall along the southern border.
Congress authorized 1.375 billion dollars to build a barrier along 55 miles of the southern border.
The president signed that deal, but believes it’s not enough.
By a series of actions, including declaring a national emergency, the president is able to redirect more than six billion dollars from federal funds, including the Defense and Treasury Departments.

In a joint statement, Democratic leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer called the move “a power grab by a disappointed president who has gone outside the bounds of the law”
As Democrats denounce the declaration and vow a fight, the president predicts a battle in the courts.
