Confidence in the police has dropped to its lowest level in almost thirty years.
That’s according to a new Gallup poll released Wednesday.
It found that roughly 48% of Americans said they have high confidence in the police.
That’s down from 53% the previous year.
It also represents the lowest level of confidence in the police since Gallup’s first policing poll nearly three decades ago.
Gallup conducted the poll in the weeks after the police killing of George Floyd in May.
The killing sparked a massive wave of protests against police brutality and racism.
