Israel has decided to ban Democratic Congresswomen Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar from entering the country.
Tlaib and Omar, who have been vocal critics of Israel, planned to visit one of the holiest and most sensitive sites in Jerusalem.
The site is known to Muslims as Haram al-Sharif and to Jewish people as the Temple Mount.
The two lawmakers had refused to be escorted by Israeli security while visiting the site.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel has tremendous respect for the United States and the American Congress but that reps. Tlaib and Omar were planning a visit “only to damage” Israel.
