It’s the last day of carnival season, but this Fat Tuesday revelers and party goers aren’t showing any signs of party fatigue.
Yes there’s music…There’s partying…And there are lots of parades.
These are the floats for the “Rex Krewe” crews put on parades and Rex reigns as the king of carnival.
Is a tradition that spans more than a century.
Their 28 floats and four to five hundred riders will be among the more than 10 parades on Fat Tuesday alone.
And yes amongst all the parades there’s plenty of partying to go around.
Centered at the heart of all the fun though is tradition.
But in late February the city’s famed “Downman Mansion” burned down after standing more than 150 years.
It’s a place the Rex Krewe has stopped to toast every year for more than a hundred years and they say this year won’t be any different.
