Mississippi is getting rid of the Confederate battle emblem from its state flag.
The measure was passed on a vote by state lawmakers and Governor Tate reeves says he will sign the bill. This comes after, SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said the state will not host any future conference championships until the state changes its flag. Last week, Ole Miss football head coach Lane Kiffin and Mississippi State head coach Mike Leach were part of a group of coaches and administrators, who lobbied the state legislature to remove the flag. Many college players say they had transferred from Mississippi schools, due to the confederate symbol on the state flag.
