The 2019 Nobel Prize for Medicine has been won by three scientists.
The announcement was made on Monday in Stockholm, Sweden.
The prize has been jointly awarded to William Kaelin Jr., Sir Peter Ratcliffe and Gregg Semenza for their pioneering research into how human cells respond to changing oxygen levels.
Kaelin and Semenza are from New York.
Ratcliffe is from Lancashire, England.
The announcement for the Nobel Peace Prize will be made Friday.
