Business executive T. Boone Pickens, also known as “The oracle of oil,” has passed away.
His foundation announced on twitter that he died of natural causes on Wednesday, at the age of 91.
Pickens had a series of strokes in recent years and suffered a head injury after a fall two years ago.
He started his career in the Phillips Petroleum Company but later built an empire in the oil industry.
However, Pickens also built a reputation as a corporate raider, which landed him on the cover of Time magazine in 1985.
Pickens also had a philanthropic side, donating hundreds of millions of dollars to his alma mater, Oklahoma State University.
