Vice President Mike Pence toured a border detention facility in McAllen, Texas Friday.
The visit comes amid reports of horrific conditions, overcrowding, and squalor at migrant detention facilities being used by the Trump administration.
Pence acknowledged the overcrowding but defended Customs and Border Protection, saying that the agency is doing its best.
Pence also pointed the finger at Democrats for not approving enough funding, maintaining that lawmakers must take action to fix these issues.
When asked if the facility met administration standards, Pence said that the system was overwhelmed and some conditions were not acceptable.
Acting homeland security secretary Kevin McAleenan also said quote “No, we’re not comfortable with it.”
All of this comes right before Immigration and Customs Enforcement will conduct raids on around 2,000 migrants in the country illegally.
Those raids are scheduled for tomorrow, according to President Trump, and will focus on multiple major cities.
