UVALDE, Texas (NEWSnet/AP) — Two people were killed and 10 others injured when a pickup truck crashed into two other vehicles in the Texas city of Uvalde, authorities said.

U.S. Border Patrol agents reportedly saw a black truck speeding on a highway before crashing into an 18-wheeler and another vehicle.

According to police, the dead and injured were stuck in the pickup truck.

Police closed the intersection while the Texas Department of Public Safety began its investigation.

Uvalde Police Chief Daniel Rodriguez said investigators are trying to determine if the driver of the passenger truck was among the dead.

Uvalde was the site of a school shooting on May 24 at Robb Elementary School where a gunman killed two teachers and 19 students with an AR-15-style rifle inside a fourth grade classroom.
