U.S. Revokes Terrorist Designation of Ansarallah

WASHINGTON
Starting February 16,2021, the United States will be officially revoking the terrorist designation of the Ansarallah in the Middle East.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced the move as a response to warnings from the United Nations, humanitarian groups in connection to dire situations in Yemen.
Blinken says the country acknowledges attacks of the group’s on U.S. forces in the Persian Gulf, Kidnapping and torturing of American citizens and its allies among other attacks on humanitarian aid.
Although removed, the group’s leaders will remain sanctioned under E.O. 13611 related to acts that threaten the peace, security, or stability of Yemen.
