The US Open is still a go for this September, but the qualifier for the event is not happening.
The United States Golf Association cancelled the qualifying for the event for the first time since 1924. The USGA says typically half of the 156-man field for the US Open, have to go through either a 36-hole qualifier or 18-hole and 36-hole qualifying. The USGA has not officially announced, how many players will be exempted. The USGA had 108 local qualifiers planned in 45 states and one in Canada. The open is set to begin on September 17th at Winged Foot in Mamaroneck, New York.
