WASHINGTON – –
This Thursday the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that scientific information indicates that there is no transmission of COVID-19 through food or food packaging.
The USDA in conjunction with the Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention (CDC) made an announcement saying that there is no credible evidence of food or food packaging could be a likely source of viral transmission of the respiratory symptoms that lead to covid-19.
They say the virus is currently known to be spread from person to person, unlike foodborne or gastrointestinal viruses.
In the statement, the USDA says that in over 100 million cases studied, not a single one was traced back to food or food packaging.
